VBSS(visit-board-search-seizure) Communication Security
Along with the improvement of overall national strength, China has attached more importance to mari- time rights and interests by setting up sea police group, sea patrol group and many other maritime law enforcement teams in addition to building a strong naval team. China also detects and punishes various maritime violations through the surveillance on the joint cruise responsible for waters jurisdiction so as to safeguard maritime rights and interests.
VBSS is a typical model of enforcing maritime laws with its tasks ranging from carrying out board inspection of merchant ships sailing through the port as well as foreign warships, searching for possibly hiding weapons, ammunition and persons, even to offering protection for offshore drilling equipment and personnel. In performing this mission, law enforcement officers need to drill down into the deck or inside the rig for checking. To ensure safe actions, law enforcement members still need to collect and send their audio and video information through automatic relay to the command center in the law enforcement ship even when they are deep in the deck, while the command centers need to issue commands to law enforcement officers. The mission model proposes demanding requirements of the communication system mobility, high data throughput and networking capabilities. Given the limited mission area, front-line law enforcement personnel need to be provided with extremely compact terminal equipment.
F-215HE hand-held mesh features small size, low power consumption and is easy to carry. Carried by law enforcement officers or aircraft, it can freely form network with other mesh radios of higher transmit- ting power, send the real-time audio and video back to the command center so as to provide adequate intelligence information for commanders to make decision.
